CALL TO ACTION! ACT NOW! AMEND NEVADA'S HELMET LAW!
Release Number 0125

Bikers' Rights Advocate Bruce Arnold From: John Bland/Connie Campbell [mailto:historicleenv@frontiernet.net]
Sent: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 11:01 PM
To: Bruce Arnold
Subject: FW: Subject: Amend Nevada's Helmet Law

Bruce Arnold,

Please forward this CALL TO ACTION to all motorcyclists.

Nevada has a helmet bill introduced as of today, it is AB300:

We are presenting the bill primarily as a tourism revenue generator. If motorcyclists are from out of state let Nevada legislators know that you would visit and vacation in Nevada if it was a freedom of choice state.

Thank you,

John Bland
NV MRF Rep.
Northern Nevada ABATE President

CALL TO ACTION! ACT NOW! AMEND NEVADA'S HELMET LAW!

E-mail, Call and Write the Transportation Committee Members and ask then to support AB300.

This bill eliminates the requirement of wearing protective headgear for drivers of motorcycles who: (1) are 21 years of age or older; (2) have possessed a valid motorcycle license for not less than 1 year; and (3) have completed an approved motorcycle safety course. This bill eliminates the requirement of wearing headgear for a passenger of a motorcycle who is 21 of age or older.

You can see the bill on the Legislative web site:

These are the key points you can use in your correspondence to the Legislators:

  • Nevada has a tourism based economy and amending Nevada's helmet law will encourage motorcyclists to visit Nevada.
  • When states modify mandatory helmet laws - sales, ownership and riders sharply increase.
  • Amending Nevada's helmet law will generate millions of dollars for Nevada without raising taxes through increased motorcycle sales and tourism. ...
  • Motorcycles are 6% of the national traumatic brain injuries, Bicycles are 7%, Pedestrians are 13%, Occupants of Enclosed Motor Vehicles are 62%, Others are 12%. Motorcycle injuries are not a cost burden to tax payers.

Contact legislators on the Assemly Transportation Committee and ask them to support AB300!
